A Look at the Labor Day Weekend
Things are still a little shaky, but the Labor Day weekend weather is starting to come into better focus.
The weekend will start out dry and warm. Saturday may end up being the best day of the 3-day weekend. The only complaint will probably be that it's going to be quite muggy. The daytime high will be in the mid 80s.
Sunday temperatures will continue to be hot as a push of warm air continues to surge across the lower Great Lakes ahead of an approaching cold front that will arrive on Monday. The combination of the warm and unstable air with the approach of the front will trigger showers and thunderstorms. The big question is how frequent and widespread will they be?
That's something that is going to be hard to pin down. My advise to you right now would be go ahead and plan your weekend gigs. If a shower or storm rolls over your house, just hope it keeps on moving and doesn't' stall out.
Labor Day itself will be much like Sunday, except a little cooler and maybe with more showers and storms do to the proximity of the cold front.
After the holiday, much cooler and refreshing air will move in NE Ohio. Daytime highs Tuesday through Friday will likely be in the lower end of the 70s and will perhaps not get out of the 60s for a day or two.

Wednesday Forecast, August 28
Over an inch of rain fell in the last 24 hours here in the Greater Akron area. After we get more showers this morning, we will start to dry out.
Looks good as we end up the week and head into the weekend. Lots of sun in the forecast. We are going to have to watch for the development of scattered storms on Sunday and Monday, but right now it's too early to pin down the timing. I wouldn't worry about it if you are planning outdoor activities.

Tuesday Forecast, August 27
Warm and muggy air will move into the region today and that will lead to some showers and thunderstorms. Looks like the best chance for the wet weather will be during the overnight, but it will likely get started with scattered storms in the afternoon and evening hours.
Meanwhile, the upcoming holiday weekend is looking very warm. Daytime highs will be in the mid 80s all three days. There will be a chance of some rain late Sunday and Monday, but right now it's too early to get excited about it. At the moment, it doesn't look like anything that would totally quash your weekend fun.

It's going to feel like the "Dog Days of August" this week. By midweek it will be hot and humid. Great weather for all of those kids going back to school with no A/C. On Wednesday, we could even come close to 90 for the afternoon high. So, yeah...where was this two weeks ago?

Summertime Continues
It will be really hot out in the midwest and western Great Lakes next week. Here in northern Ohio temperatures will likely hit the 80s during the afternoon hours. (Map courtesy of AccuWeather) |
The warm, summertime weather which eluded us the first half of August is now back and will remain with us through the Labor Day weekend. The current projection is for daytime high temperatures to be in the 80s all of next week...and right on through Labor Day. After Labor Day, a cool down appears to be in the works, but that's still a ways out.
As for rain, the week should be mostly dry. A period of showers is possible Tuesday night and/or Wednesday, but otherwise, expect lots of sun.
Saturday Forecast, August 24
HIGH pressure will be the primary influence on our weather this weekend. That means sunny skies and warm temperatures. Our next weather-maker isn't likely to arrive until the middle of next week when we will cool down for a few days.
