Monday Weather, January 6

Why did is rain on Sunday?
Obviously that snow thing didn't work out too well. The initial forecast track of the LOW storm center was through the West Virginia mountains and SW Pennsylvania. That would have brought the cold air into eastern Ohio during the afternoon and evening. Well, the thing had a mind of its own and came upright across Ohio. That left us on the warm air side all day Sunday...NW Ohio and the Toledo area being the exception. The low finally moved off to the NE after midnight allowing the sub-freezing air to arrive.

It is cold now and temperatures will drop all day.  Here's the forecast:

WIND CHILL WARNING UNTIL 9am WEDNESDAY!

Winter Storm update (7:30pm Saturday)

Everything remains right on track. While snow will fall during the day Sunday, the heaviest snow should occur during the evening and overnight hours. I still think we will have 4-8 inches of new snow by Monday morning and then another inch or two on Monday. One change that has occurred is that some sleet or freezing rain may mix in with the snow for a few hours Sunday evening.

As for the temperatures and wind chill, we remain on track with earlier forecasts. For specifics see the earlier posts. Monday will just be an ugly, snowy, day with temperatures falling like a rock throughout the day.

Officially, the National Weather Service has issued some warnings. Here's the rundown on those:

WINTER STORM WARNING
6pm Sunday until 5pm Monday

WIND CHILL WARNING
