Winter continues this weekend. As we've been talking all week, more snow is in the forecast. A big, wet storm coming in to California today. It will move across the nation during the weekend giving Ohio another round of snow on Sunday and Monday.
Earlier in the week I was thinking 4-6 inches would do it with heavier snow south of the Akron area. Then the models got a bit more aggressive, so I moved the total up to 6-8 inches. 6 inches has been the consistent figure in both of these forecasts. So at this point I'm going to settle on that number. Allowing for variances, I'll split the difference in my previous two forecasts and say 5-7 inches will likely be on the ground by mid-morning Monday.
Here's the breakdown for what we expect to happen:
Saturday - Occasional snow during the day with accumulations of an inch or less
Saturday Night - Occasional light snow with an inch or two by morning.
Sunday and Sunday Night - Snow will continue with intervals of heavier snowfall.
Monday - Snow tapering off to snow showers in the morning.
TOTAL SNOW BY MID-MORNING MONDAY: 5-7 inches
Below is a map from our friends at AccuWeather.com that shows where the heavier snow will fall.

Friday Forecast, February 28
ANOTHER WEEKEND SNOWSTORM
Warm air over the southern states
will clash with the polar air over the north this weekend causing another
outbreak of snow and ice. At this time it looks like the ice should be well
south of our area. Snowfall, however, could be heavy. This will be a “wet” snow
and accumulate rapidly. While the exact track of the storm will determine what
we get, at the moment we can expect 6-8 inches of snow to fall from Sunday through
mid-morning Monday.

Snow again? I think yes.
Lots of folks are getting excited about the potential for a big weekend snowstorm. So, let's talk about that shall we.
A storm system coming in to California from the Pacific will move across the U.S. this week. By Sunday the storm will be cranking out some severe weather in the south and and heavy snow to the north.
This one will be close. We could get anywhere from 3 inches to a foot of snow Sunday afternoon through Monday morning. At the moment, the forecast models have the storm moving far enough south that the Greater Akron area would pick up 3-5 inches by Monday morning. However, from Canton south we are looking at over a foot. That's close! With the storm still not even on the west coast, it's hard to pinpoint exactly where this thing will move.
I'm not ready to sound the alarm just yet. The best thing to do would be to keep up to date on later forecasts.
