Back to normal this week...almost

While last week was a tad on the cool side, we will warm up a bit this week. The jet stream is shifting a bit north (see map at right) and that will put us barely on the warm side, but nonetheless we will be on the warmer side.

Our normal daytime high this week is 83. We'll start off the week in the upper 70s then warm to 80+ (only by a degree or two or three) for the end of the week. We may also see a few showers from time to time especially early week. (The pictorial forecast looks much more ominous than things will turn out to be.)

Looking at some historical data, so far July is averaging about 4.5 degrees below normal. The highest official temperature so far this summer was 90 at Akron/Canton on June 25. It only happened once so far. Frankly, I don't miss the 90s. The 80s work well for me...the 70s even better.

BTW, this past weekend NOAA (the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) announced that June, 2009 was officially the 2nd warmest June (worldwide) in the history of the world. (Well, at least since they started keeping records in the 1800s.) That was not the case here in the Greater Akron area. Our June was right about spot-on normal.

That's it for now. Enjoy the week!
