Looking for a snowy Saturday

As we head into the weekend, it looks like Saturday is going to be rather snowy. A storm system heading our way from the south will bring a lot of moisture into the region. Combine that with a cold front that will be hanging around and we have a setup that could produce some significant snow.

The snow should begin after midnight Friday night and continue during the day on Saturday. It may fall at a rather heavy rate at times on Saturday. By Saturday evening projections are for 3 to 5 inches of new snow to have fallen. Overnight Saturday we could get another inch or so. By midday on Sunday let's say we should have a storm total of 4 to 6 inches of new snow. (See the snowfall map at left.)

After that we will look at Sunday night when either lake effect or a combination of lake effect and a clipper storm could crank out a few more inches by Monday morning.

My goodness...this is just like winter!
